NOAA (National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration) Needs A Level Field

NOAA brings a mobile unit to Gary L. Kranz for a little straightening out. Unit has a radar dish mounted on top of the trailer for tracking satellites and required that the mobile unit be as level as possible. The unit was used in all kinds of terrain and needed a system to level the unit. A design was used where four hydraulic cylinders were used to lift the unit to a level position.

Each hydraulic cylinder had its own "level bubble", and the hydraulic system would turn off when the unit reached a level point. When the unit was transported, the hydraulic cylinders simply folded up and were stored. A master "level bubble" mounted inside of the unit could be operated by push button control. When the operator achieved a level position, the hydraulics locked all cylinders to prevent movement.
